Analytical Methods in Quantum and Continuum Mechanics
Winter School In Turin - Politecnico di Torino -November 29 – December 3, 2021.
The role of analytical methods in applied mathematics is nowadays fundamental in the modeling of real life phenomena. The breadth of different fields raising new challenging issues has pushed the theory in several different directions, from Quantum Mechanics to Biology, Economics and Engineering, rooting for a strong interdisciplinarity. Therefore, the major goal of the Winter School Analytical Methods in Quantum and Continuum Mechanics is to gather recognized experts in mathematical analysis with a diverse background, alongside with young mathematicians working on the field. In particular, we aim at attracting people working on analysis of PDEs, Calculus of Variations and Functional Analysis, whose research focuses both on theoretical problems and on real world applications. In particular, the School purposes to provide an opportunity for different communities to meet up, fostering the interactions, allowing exchanges of ideas and methods and contributing to the diffusion of open problems. On the other hand, mini-courses and talks of the School aim at introducing research topics currently of interest in an accessible way to a wide audience, in such a way to enable also nonexpert, interested researchers to approach the questions of major interest
